Nadi Bay Herbs
I went for a field trip yesterday 19/09 to Nadi Bay Herbs which is located in Naisoso, Nadi. The farm grows Basil and other herbs for export. Accordinga to Mr. Kemp, his farm is a Semi organic farm in which herbs are grown on organic soil without the use of chemicals but then chemicals are added only for exporting . Mr. Kemp exports basil to New Zealand every week. The farm consists of 13 hardworking staffs. According to Mr. kemp, managing and working in his farm requires discipline. However, the seeds are imported from New Zealand and are hand planted. The farm consists of 13 different herbs but only 2 are exported. Some of the challenges that this farm faces are weather, pests, to name a few. This was a very educational and inspirational trip that enables me to learn how farmers managed their farm and earn a living.
